Kaden Honeycutt's incredible weekend continued on Saturday, sweeping the zMAX CARS Tour features at Ace Speedway.
Honeycutt started the weekend by winning both the ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events at Watkins Glen International on Friday. Both were career-firsts for the Texas driver in their respective series, a jubilant and emotional day on its own.
Honeycutt could have been forgiven if he hadn't made the trip to Altamahaw, North Carolina, to take part in the Accelerated Graphics 250 in light of Friday's success. He not only raced at Ace on Saturday night, but he also left with two more victories.
"Man, I'm so worn out," Honeycutt said in victory lane following the Late Model Stock triumph to cap off the evening. "Thank you to Kenneth Packer, my whole R&S team. I just can't believe it. I've tried so many times to pull off the double, and we effing did it. Holy crap, what a race."
Honeycutt was admittedly weary and tired after 225 laps of Late Model racing on Saturday night on top of his road-course exploits on Friday, but he expected another long night of celebration awaited him.
"I think it was more just attrition for me," Honeycutt confessed about the closing laps. "I just got so tired, man. I've been beat to death these last couple of days. Staying up until 4 a.m. last night partying didn't help out, but I am probably going to party again tonight. This is unbelievable.
"I did say I was going to crack a beer, in the stands, so I'm gonna go do that. This time, a little bit better, professional way. Thanks to all my guys, man. I've been wanting to win here again. I haven't been able to run a [Late Model] Stock here in a couple of years. R&S brings an amazing package here. Josh Yeoman, my crew chief, did a great job all day, and I appreciate him so much."
Treyten Lapcevich had a strong double-duty night of his own, finishing second to Honeycutt in the Late Model Stock race after finishing third in the Pro Late Model feature.
"I don't think I've ever driven harder in my life, honestly," said Lapcevich. "Just so close. We were kind of trading lap times there at the end. Man, they had a great race car. Kaden did a great job, but it's the one that got away."
Honeycutt also had to battle Lapcevich for the win in the Pro Late Model feature, holding off the Canadian driver on several late restarts to win that 100-lapper.
"It was tough," said Honeycutt. "It's hard to choose the bottom here as the leader when you know late in the race, for some reason, this place is really good around the middle on heat cycles. I didn't want to give up the bottom, just in case. That last restart I had was money, and I was able to get by them. Just a great race. It was great racing Treyten, hard racing for sure.
"Easily after yesterday, I could have went home and told these guys I didn't want to race, but that's not who I am. I just want to race everything I can get my hands on and just race for amazing owners who allow me to come out here and do this."
Caden Kvapil finished third in the Late Model Stock race, earning the $10,000 "Flodium" bonus in the process. Landen Lewis and Corey Heim rounded out the top five.
Jake Johnson was runner-up to Honeycutt in the Pro Late Models, followed by Lapcevich, Ben Maier and Keelan Harvick.
The next two events on the zMAX CARS Tour schedule feature just the Late Model Stock division, racing at Langley Speedway on May 30 and Dominion Raceway on June 13. Both divisions will be in action on July 17 at North Wilkesboro Speedway in the buildup to the NASCAR Cup Series Window World 450.
