Derek Thorn Fastest in Tuesday Practice at Slinger Nationals

Defending Snowball Derby champion Derek Thorn set fast time during Tuesday's practice sessions ahead of the 44th Annual Cobblestone Hotels Slinger Nationals Presented by Lynch Buick GMC West Bend.

Thorn clocked in at 11.262 seconds during the first 90-minute practice session at Slinger Speedway to open Tuesday's on-track activity.

Alex Prunty, the 2018 Super Late Model track champion at Slinger, was second-fastest, followed by Chase Elliott, 2021 Slinger Nationals winner Luke Fenhaus and defending track champion R.J. Braun.

There was an extended stoppage during the first practice session after an issue with the No. 5 of Johnny Sauter. The former NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion suffered a broken ball joint during the practice, and required the assistance of the Slinger Speedway track crews to remove his car from the racing surface. The team was able to make repairs, and Sauter returned to the track during the second practice session of the afternoon.
