With Brent Roy stepping down after three years as the Race Director, the series has appointed Denver Matchett to the role, now retitled to Series Director, effective immediately.
Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series management is proud to reveal the first major development of the 2026 season, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for a key figure involved since the series’ inception in 2023.
With Brent Roy stepping down after three years as the Race Director, the series has appointed Denver Matchett to the role, now retitled to Series Director, effective immediately.
Matchett, a Miramichi, New Brunswick native and 2022 Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of New Brunswick, has overseen social media and communications operations for the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series since 2023, playing a key role in establishing the series online as one of Canada’s premier touring stock car racing organizations, building its brand identity, and shaping its digital presence.
From managing social media content and video production, providing in-depth coverage of race teams and tracks, to coordinating event communications, working directly with series management and race officials, and assisting with various race-day duties, Matchett has consistently built a trusted reputation within the series and its community.
His youthful energy, strong passion for the sport, deep understanding of the series’ core identity, and versatile experience across multiple areas within the industry make him an excellent, natural fit for the newly appointed position.
“First of all, a big thank you is owed to Brent Roy,” Matchett said. “We would not be here today without the effort and vision he brought to launching this series and guiding it through the first three years. I’ve been fortunate to have worked closely with Brent and have learned a great deal along the way.”
“It’s incredibly surreal to be presented with this opportunity. Above all else, I am a fan of stock car racing and always have been. I was the kid in the stands idolizing the drivers on track, and later the teenager who had to lie about his age just to get into the pits. Now I get to work directly with many of those drivers I grew up watching – it’s pretty special to say the least.”
Matchett brings a proven background in race operations and other notable leadership roles. From 2017 to 2022, he served as a flagman, race official and promoter at R&R Speedway (formerly Speedway Miramichi), helping the facility navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and introducing popular events, including the Figure 8 Trailer Race and Bomber Firecracker.
This past season, he assisted the track’s transition to new ownership while directing several events. Outside of R&R, he directed the 12th Annual Mike Stevens Memorial 254 at Petty International Raceway, one of the region’s most prestigious annual Super Late Model races, which featured an elite 20-car field that produced a thrilling, action-packed show en route to an intense, memorable finish between winner Craig Slaunwhite and former Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series champion Ashton Tucker.
As the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series enters its fourth year of operation, Matchett eagerly steps into the Series Director role, ready to help guide the series into its next phase. In addition to overseeing the series, he’ll be responsible for handling race-day operations and all competitive and procedural elements of each event, ensuring competition integrity, operational consistency, and a professional, positive event experience for teams, officials, staff, sponsors, and fans.
His familiarity with the sport, reliable leadership, communication and organizational skills, and level-headed approach will be crucial as the series continues building momentum into 2026 and beyond.
“With this opportunity comes a promise to commit every effort to grow and strengthen this series and sport for drivers, fans, and sponsors alike,” Matchett said. “As Brent (Roy) would often say, 'A rising tide raises all ships,' and we’ve seen the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series generate plenty of positives across the board.
“Work is well underway for 2026 with the incredible team we have, who will strive collectively to continue delivering an exciting and professional racing series which is held to the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and backed by a shared passion for stock car racing.”
The 2026 Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series schedule will be released in the coming weeks, along with many other important and exciting announcements throughout the offseason.
