Dawson Sutton persevered on Saturday evening at Toledo Speedway, claiming his second career Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour victory in the CorvetteParts.net Glass City 200.

On a day that saw several contenders fall by the wayside throughout the 200-lap event, Sutton remained steady and took the victory ahead of series points leader Cole Butcher.

One year ago, Sutton started third in the Glass City 200, won by Casey Roderick. However, Sutton suffered a vicious crash early in that race when a tire came off his No. 26.

There was no such drama for Sutton this year, and the Tennessee native took the checkered flag for his first STARS win of 2025.

"We had a really good race last year, just not very much luck," said Sutton. "Coming back here, we've just had a great race car all day. To put it up front there in qualifying, I just really had a lot of confidence going into the 200-lapper. Luckily, we parked it in victory lane. It feels really good."

While plenty of drivers ran into misfortune during the Glass City 200, Butcher found himself in trouble in the opening laps of the race. A slide through the turn four grass dropped Butcher in the field and put him in recovery mode early.

The Nova Scotia native, fresh off his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut on Thursday at Bristol Motor Speedway, recovered for a runner-up finish.

"Yeah, got into the first couple of laps," said Butcher. "Stupid me put it in the fence, and then my team had to work their butts off.

"Had to dig myself out of that one. I apologize to my team, but I can't thank them enough for everything they've done. Congratulations to Rackley W.A.R., Dawson Sutton, they deserve it."

Butcher added to his points lead over Carson Brown, who finished sixth on Saturday, with two races left in the season. However, Butcher insists his focus is on picking up wins at the Winchester 400 and All American 400 to close out the campaign.

"The points will take care of themselves," Butcher said. "We're here to win races. I don't really think much about points. I think we have a pretty good gap right now, but we'll move on to Winchester."

Max Reaves finished third in his ASA STARS NAtional Tour debut. He hopes the track time on Saturday will benefit him when he returns to Toledo with the ARCA Menards Series in October.

"I don't think we had anything for [Sutton], but I think we had a good second-place car," said Reaves. "We were running right with him, you know? I was pretty excited when he missed a shift, because that was my time to shine. We got wrecked, and it played out good. We just played the cards right, and it ended up a good night.

"I like this track a lot, and this car has been really good so far. This is my second Super Late Model race. I hope when I come back here in the ARCA car, we can better it by two spots."

Trouble started early for several contenders, including Newport winner Derek Kraus. Kraus suffered a mechanical failure after just 11 laps, ending his day early.

Penn Sauter fell by the wayside after 27 laps following contact with Derek Thorn entering turn one, sending the son of Johnny Sauter into the outside wall. A handful of laps later, Ty Majeski and Bubba Pollard tangled, with Pollard spinning and collecting Chase Pinsonneault and Kyle Crump.

The next stop for the ASA STARS National Tour is the Winchester 400 presented by Vores Welding and Steel at Winchester Speedway on October 12.
