CRA Vores Welding & Steel Sportsman to Headline Labor Day Weekend at Winchester Speedway

One of the most iconic short tracks in America is once again stepping up in a big way to support grassroots racing. Winchester Speedway will host the CRA Vores Welding & Steel Late Model Sportsman as the featured event during the annual Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival, with a generous $5,000-to-win prize and a total purse exceeding $25,000, thanks to the support of track owner Charlie Shaw and longtime grassroots backer Steve Vore.

“This is part of our ongoing commitment to both fans and racers,” stated Shaw. “Our Winchester Speedway team is working hard to improve the fan experience and make things better for the drivers as well. This purse is just one way we can show our appreciation for the great racing these drivers bring to our historic speedway.”

Adding to the support, Steve Vore, a longtime supporter of grassroots motorsports, has committed $2,000 in bonus money for drivers competing in the Sportsman event. These bonuses include:

• Three $500 random drawings during the drivers meeting for teams competing in the Sportsman race
• $100 bonuses for:
  • Fast Qualifier
  • Hard Luck Award
  • Last car on the lead lap
  • First car one lap down
  • One random driver still running at the finish

“Grassroots racers and Winchester Speedway have always had a special place in my heart,” said Vore. “Charlie is doing incredible work at the track, and I wanted to do my part to help bring even more racers to this amazing and historic venue for Labor Day weekend.”

The World Stock Car Festival runs Saturday, August 30 through Monday, September 1. Saturday will feature open practice, followed by racing on Sunday evening and Monday afternoon. The full weekend lineup includes the CRA Vores Welding & Steel Late Model Sportsman, Vore’s Compact Touring Series, Mid-Am Racing Series, Thunder Roadsters, CRA Street Stocks, and Modifieds.
