Christopher Martin Jr. picked up his first career Limited Late Model win back in April at Hickory Motor Speedway, but he's headed into this weekend looking to double up on past success.
The Virginia driver has spent the past few seasons honing his skills in Late Model racing, driving for Leicht Motorsports and Driver Development. Martin, now with his second year at Leicht Motorsports, knew the time was coming for them to capture a win at the famous Hickory Motor Speedway. After many attempts at it, that first win finally came on April 29th against a full field of Limited Late Model drivers.
In a race halted by multiple yellow flags, Christopher maintained composure on every restart from the front row to find himself in victory lane after 50 challenging laps. You can find a full replay of the race on YouTube here.
"It was awesome to add my name as a winner at Hickory Motor Speedway, a place with so much history with the track," said Martin.
After that first win, the team had high hopes headed into the next few events at Hickory. However, bad luck struck the team short of victory since then, but this weekend is a fresh opportunity to overcome past misfortunes and find the checkered flag once again. Christoper has been away from the seat for over a month now, so he feels like the July 8th raceday has given himself and Leicht Motorsports enough time to regroup and refocus.
"Leicht Motorsports has helped me grow as a driver with their awesome driver development program. They have great coaching and great equipment, two essential factors to winning races."
Looking further down the season, Christopher Martin is looking to add some Late Model Stock races to his schedule, as well as making a return to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on August 11th in the ARCA Menards Series, a place where Martin made his first ARCA start last year for Fast Track Racing. Moving into 2024, he is eyeing the possibility of running the full ARCA East schedule, as well as adding the ARCA Daytona race and a season of Late Model Stocks with a goal of a track championship at Hickory Motor Speedway. 2024 is set to be a big year for not only the driver, but his partners as well.
"I would like to thank Glenwood Oil and Gas, Luminaire Technologies, my parents, and my awesome girlfriend Megan for being there at my races and all the fans that come and watch us race. I'd also like to thank Leicht Motorsports for giving me a fast car every weekend. Lastly, a big thank you to Brett Suggs Racing Marketing for the awesome content every week."
The 2023 racing season is just past halfway, but Christopher Martin Jr. and team are more prepared than ever to add more wins to the record books and continue the success they know they're capable of.
