Christmas will come early for winners at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway this weekend. A total purse of $50,000 will be on the line as the top drivers in the region take the green flag for the season finale Solid Rock Carriers Race of Champions!

The fifty thousand dollar purse is a record at Carteret County Speedway and is the richest auto racing event ever in Coastal Carolina. Six divisions will compete featuring the Solid Rock Carriers Late Model Series covering 150 laps with $10,000 to the winner. Not surprisingly the race has attracted a full field of 20+ cars and drivers including defending champion Stacy Puryear and the current points leader Dylan Newsome, riding a six race win streak!

Friday’s action will start with practice at 10am for all six divisions (Late Models, Limited Late Models, Legends, Bombers, UCAR and Jr.Mini Cup) and Pole Qualifying will begin Friday at 6pm. The Friday qualifying will be individual qualifying and will determine Saturday’s lineup in all divisions except Jr. Mini Cup.

Saturday racing begins at 2pm with the 150 lap Late Model Series. The race will be run in three stages, 35 laps, 40 laps and then a 75 lap finish.

Meantime the Limited Late Models will cover 75 laps and Legends 50 with $2,500 to the winner of each race! The one exception, the winner’s purse could reach $3,000 for the Legends winner if the winning driver also competed in the October 22nd Halloween Bash at Carteret Speedway.

Adult tickets are $20 and good for both days and as always children 10 and under are admitted free.

Humpy Wheeler, long-time NASCAR Promotor and racing legend will serve as the Solid Rock Carriers Race of Champions Grand Marshall. Wheeler is best known for his work at Charlotte Motor Speedway and he’ll be available for autographs all weekend especially during the driver meet and greet Saturday at 1pm. Fans will also be able to meet with drivers at Moonshiners Bar and Grill following Friday’s qualifying.

Here is Saturday’s racing lineup:

Solid Rock Carriers Late Model Series 150 laps to be run in three stages 35/40/75
Jr. Mini Cup 15 laps
Legends 50 laps
UCAR 25 laps
Limited Late Models 75 laps
Bombers 25 laps
