One Super Late Model driver could walk away from Five Flags Speedway with $40,000 this weekend. Track officials announced last month a series of bonuses that will beef up the purse for the Blizzard Series doubleheader weekend featuring the Michels & Booth Twin 100’s on Friday and Saturday, July 23-24.
The doubleheader weekend, which includes the Universal Fabricators 100 on Friday and Michles & Booth 100 on Saturday, was originally scheduled to pay $5,000 to win each race. However, bonuses presented by the Pit Pay App will double the purse for both races and make each race $10,000 to win.
Additionally, a $20,000 bonus has been posted if a driver can sweep the Michles & Booth Twin 100 weekend. With both races paying $10,000 to win and a $20,000 bonus for a sweep, one driver could walk away with $40,000 if they’re able to win both Friday and Saturday’s races.
Phoenix Construction has also posted a bonus for the weekend that will pay $5,000 to the driver with the best average finish during the weekend. However, if a driver does win both races they will not be eligible for the best average finish bonus. In this scenario, the $5,000 bonus will go to the driver with the second best average.
The Blizzard Series opener was later than usual in 2021, kicking off on Friday, June 4 with a 36-car field. Sammy Smith originally crossed under the checkered flag, but would later fail post-race inspection and be disqualified. Stephen Nasse inherited the win, his third Blizzard Series win in the last five races.
Nasse also enters this weekend leading the Southern Super Series points, ahead of Jett Noland and Jake Garcia.
The Michles & Booth Twin 100’s will serve as the second and third races of the 2021 Blizzard Series season at Five Flags Speedway. With big money on the line and the chance to prepare for December’s 54th Annual Snowball Derby, a stout field of Super Late Model drivers are expected to be in attendance.
Race fans unable to make it to Pensacola, Florida will be able to watch both races on Speed51.TV with a monthly or yearly subscription. The races will be the first two events for this year’s FK Rod Ends Summer Thunder Series on Speed51.TV.
