A new Late Model Stock tradition will be born in Jacksonville, North Carolina this weekend.

Goodyear All American Speedway, which was formerly known as Coastal Plains Raceway, is set to host its biggest race of the season in the Solid Rock Carriers Battle of the Stars, which will hand out a race-winning paycheck of $10,000.

Prior to being purchased by Anthony and Tonya Goodyear earlier in 2021, the facility hosted races for numerous sanctioning bodies during the 2000s that included the Goody's Dash Series, USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series and the Slim Jim All Pro Series.

The Goodyears are looking to revive the atmosphere that permeated race weekends at the track during its earlier years with the Battle of the Stars, which has already attracted a stellar group of competitors looking to bag $10,000 before the end of 2021.

Headlining the preliminary entry list is full-time Xfinity Series competitor Josh Berry. The long list of accomplishments for Berry include a NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series title, a CARS Tour championship and a win in the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 but Sunday will be the first time the short track veteran has competed at Goodyear All American Speedway during his storied career.

Several local favorites like T.J. Barron, Tony Grady and Brandon Clements have also submitted entries for the Battle of the Stars along with B.J. Mackey, who won a Goody's Dash Series race at Goodyear All American Speedway back in 2000.

Other notable names on the preliminary entry list include two-time South Boston Speedway champion Justin Johnson, who is driving for Jimmy Mooring this weekend, as well as 2019 Hampton Heat 200 winner Connor Hall.

Qualifying for the Late Model Stocks will begin at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. The 150-lap Late Model Stock feature will serve as the final event of five races that will get going at approximately 3 p.m..
