The NASCAR Cup Series season may be over, but we still have some Sunday action for you on Racing America powered by Speed51.TV. The inaugural Solid Rock Carriers Battle of the Stars takes place at Goodyear All American Speedway this afternoon, featuring some of the top Late Model Stock Car competitors around and headlined by two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series winner Josh Berry.
Here are 10 things to know ahead of today's marquee event.
- We can only expect that this will be the first of many big season ending races for Late Model Stock at Goodyear. Success in this event will give Late Model Stock drivers another race to mark on the calendar at the end of the season. Additions to the schedules are always more promising than subtractions.
- We didn’t want to miss any of the entries, so here is the full list: Bryant Barnhill, TJ Barron, Josh Berry, Thomas Burbage, Chris Burns, Chris Chapman, Brandon Clements, Matt Gould, Tony Grady, Camden Gullie, Connor Hall, Justin Johnson, Conner Jones, Carter Langley, Zach Lightfoot, BJ Mackey, Tyler Matthews, Chad McCumbee, Kenneth Mercer, Ryan Millington, Christian Rose, Amber Slagle, Trevor Ward, Paul Williamson, Eric Winslow, and Jason York are the listed entries.
- The Battle of the Stars will feature a purse that has $10,000 going to the winner.
- Goodyear All American Speedway (formerly known as Coastal Plains Raceway) was built in 1999 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. The four-tenths of a mile oval has always been a coastal destination for regional touring series.
- Rusty Daniels won the most recent Late Model Stock Car race at Goodyear Speedway. Other winners this year include Jason York, Paul Williamson, and TJ Barron swept the races on August 28th.
- Late Model Stock teams practiced on Saturday ahead of today's big race. Josh Berry was fastest in the practice session.
- The Late Model Stock event will be 150 laps. We believe, based on our research, this will be the longest race at the track since 2014, when the Pro Cup Series went 200 laps.
- It’s hard to find a short track in the southeast that Josh Berry has not won at, but Goodyear All American Speedway is one of those venues. Sunday's race will actually be Berry's first at the Jacksonville, North Carolina facility.
- In addition to the packed Late Model field there will be U-Car, Bombers, Legends and Bandolero races.
- Subscribers of Racing America or Speed51.TV can watch this weekend’s race at Goodyear All American Speedway live on Sunday.
