Brady Golan Completes FR Americas Sweep at Indianapolis

Brady Golan won again in Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) on Sunday morning. Going back-to-back in the first two races of the event, Golan became the first driver this season to win multiple FR Americas races in a single weekend.

Notes of Interest:

• Winning Race 2 at IMS, Brady Golan tallied his fourth victory of the 2026 season.
• After starting eighth, Cooper Shipman made a last-lap pass to take second and claim his fourth podium of the season.
• With a third-place finish in Race 2, seven of Evagoras Papasavvas’ nine finishes have been on the podium this season.
• Alejandro Bobadilla (No. 8 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) crossed the bricks in fifth to earn his career-best finish.
• After missing the rounds at Road America and Mid-Ohio, Anthony Autiello returned to the top step of the podium at IMS winning the Masters Cup Class for the second time this season.

Setting the fast lap while racing from last to second yesterday, Evagoras Papasavvas (No. 71 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) started on pole for Race 2 on Sunday morning. Pulling out front to lead the pack, Papasavvas’ early laps were filled with intense pressure from both Brady Golan (No. 40 Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F3) and Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3), as they looked to gain an advantage. Hauanio no sooner overtook Golan for second before suffering a flat tire and was forced down pit road. With Hauanio removed from contention, it became a two-man battle between Papasavvas and Golan.

Papasavvas held the lead for most of the race, but a restart with just seven minutes to go gave Golan another shot. Timing his launch perfectly, Golan dove to the inside of Papasavvas as they raced into Turn 1, completed the pass and took the point position. Behind them, Cooper Shipman (No. 10 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) had raced up to third after starting the event in eighth. In the closing minutes, Golan started to pull away, as Papasavvas started to fall into the clutches of Shipman. As the white flag waved, Shipman pulled side by side with Papasavvas and the two engaged in a wheel-to-wheel battle for the entire final circuit. Golan led the field across the Yard of Bricks, while Papasavvas and Shipman drag raced all the way to the finish line behind him. Shipman crossed the line second with Papasavvas following in third, as just 0.216 seconds separated them.

“We had a good fight throughout the whole race,” said Golan atop the podium. “I have tons of respect for both [Papasavvas and Shipman]. I know I said it before, and I'll say it again: they race super clean. I'm really happy to come home with a win, especially in my team's hometown. I think this is the first weekend that anyone has won two races in a single weekend, so I’m super proud of all the Toney Driver Development guys.”

In the Masters Cup Class, Anthony Autiello (No. 07 Hope For The Warriors / Momentum Motorsports Ligier JS F3) survived to win a race of attrition. Whitney Strickland (No. 21 TF Companies / Hillenburg Motorsports Ligier JS F3) led the group down the grid for the standing start, but early contact took him out of contention. Kevin Janzen (No. 24 US Power Group/Data Center Solutions / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) inherited the class lead, but had his progress slowed when he had to come down pit lane for a mechanical failure just past the halfway mark. Autiello survived all the way to the checkered flag, winning the Masters Cup Class.

“It was definitely slick out there, especially being on old tires,” said Autiello atop the podium. “It was unfortunate to see what happened to Whitney [Strickland] in Turn 1. As I kept watching the attrition in the race, I knew I just had to keep my head down and be smart about it. If I tried to race up in the front, I probably would’ve made a mistake. It was more about being smart, and I think that’s the best we could have done given the circumstances. I have to thank my daughter, Ava, for being here and making it a great Father’s Day.”

Brady Golan completed the weekend sweep in Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) competition at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Survival was a key to success in the action-packed race, and Golan was able to strategically use a mid-race restart to overtake the lead and race to the checkered flag.

• Kevin Janzen locked in his first Masters Cup Class victory of the 2026 season, winning Race 3 at Indianapolis. As a Father’s Day surprise, Janzen’s daughters joined him at the track today and watched him race in person for the first time in his career.

Race 3 was one of attrition, where success required survival. With Brady Golan (No. 40 Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F3) on pole, it was second-place starter Evagoras Papasavvas (No. 71 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) who got the launch off the starting block to take the race lead before the field reached Turn 1. His charge, however, was slowed when the safety car deployed for crews to attend to the disabled machine of Anthony Autiello (No. 07 Hope For The Warriors / Momentum Motorsports Ligier JS F3), who suffered a mechanical failure and was unable to take off when the lights went out.

With Autiello’s car cleared, the frontrunners sped toward the restart while those running mid-pack got caught up in an accordion-style pileup. The front four took off with Papasavvas in the lead and Golan settling into second. Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) slid past Cooper Shipman (No. 10 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) for third. The pace was again slowed, as safety crews tended to cars involved in incidents on the restart, setting the field up to try it all over again.

This time staying on the gearbox of Papasavvas as they raced down the front straight, Golan went wide as they raced through Turn 1 and set himself up perfectly for the overtake in Turn 2. While unable to open up a gap much more than a few tenths of a second, Golan stood up to the pressure and never faltered from his position in the race lead.

When the checkered flag finally waved, Golan was the first across the Yard of Bricks with Papasavvas following in second. Hauanio and Shipman put on a great show battling for third after the final restart, but as the minutes passed Hauanio pulled away to easily claim the final podium spot.

“I’m a bit at a loss for words, to be honest,” said Golan after climbing from the car. “To see us win on the sportscar side at [VIRginia International Raceway] and win all three races here this weekend—it’s phenomenal. It shows how strong this group is that Nathan [Toney, team owner] has put together. They’ve done a great job all weekend—and all year, honestly. I see them working their tails off nonstop, so it’s awesome to come out with three great results for the team. That was by far the hardest that I’ve had to work for a win; we all put up a good fight. I’m really happy to win this one.”

In the Masters Cup Class, Kevin Janzen (No. 24 US Power Group/Data Center Solutions / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) led from start to finish, skillfully working through the restarts and avoiding any on-track issues. Taking the checkered flag, Janzen claimed his first Masters Cup win of the year following five runner-up finishes.

“It was survival, for sure,” said Janzen atop the podium. “I was looking around and wondering where everyone was. It seemed to be a bit of bad luck with some mid-pack racing and collisions; probably some tiredness in the last race of the weekend. I’d like to thank my wife, Kara, and my two daughters, Hannah and Olivia, for coming. This is the first race weekend [my daughters] have seen, so it’s really nice to have them here. I was surprised last night; they just showed up at dinner. I looked over and was like ‘they look really familiar.’ I didn’t expect them to come, so it was a bit of a surprise, but it’s really wonderful to have them here.”
