The DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds return to Lake View Motor Speedway for the South of the Border Showdown this weekend. For more ahead of the big show, here are 10 Things to Know about the South of the Border Showdown.
1 - The three-day South of the Border Showdown weekend will feature 11 overall feature events. Modified Vintage, Sportsman Vintage, Antique Vintage, Stock V8, and Mini Sprints will all be in action between Friday and Saturday night. Of course, the Sportsman Modifieds have three nights of races.
2 - The money on the line for the Sportsman Modifieds will be strong as well. It’s $1,000 on Thursday, $2,000 on Friday and $3,000 for the big 50-lap race on Saturday.
3 - Last year in the big 50-lap Sportsman Modified race, Andrew Buff held off Nick Guererri and won by half a second. Justin Buff was third, Zachary Payne was fourth and Tyler Corcoran rounded out the top five. Andrew and Justin Buff are already on the entry list for this year.
4 - In the Friday night prelim race for the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, Nick Guererri picked up the win over Andrew Buff. Local racer Willie Milliken jumped in a car and posted a third-place finish.
5 - 24 of 32 Sportsman Modified South of the Border entries hail from the state of New York. The Empire State has a real good chance to take some trophies back north after this weekend.
6 - We mentioned the winner Andrew Buff from last year - Racing America caught up with him ahead of this weekend.

7 - For the fans that might not know, Lake View Motor Speedway in Lake View, South Carolina opened in 1981 and is listed as a 4/10-mile oval.
8 - In all, there will be three DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Features over the course of three days at Lake View Motor Speedway (SC). When it’s all said and done, the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds will race for 110 laps. Thursday will be a 25-lap event, Friday will be 35 laps and then Saturday is the big one with 50 total laps to finish up the weekend.
9 - Racing America will have all the action live on Speed51.TV. You can catch action each night if you can’t make it to South Carolina.
